HI Anita, There are specialist lenders out there that might be able assist depending on the finer details - what you will need to keep in mind is that banks run on risk and will give what we call "rate for risk". What this means is that your situation might be consider higher risk and you will have higher interest rates - Why your situation is higher risk? - this is because banks will look at the property and at the worst case scenario - If you stop paying the loan they will have to sell the property and a new home with out a kitchen is going to be really hard to sell and could take a long time. What the best option might be is looking a lender that will accept your situation and lend you the money to complete the build - there might be risk fees and higher rates - 5% to 7% for example - but this will be short term lending as once you have the money and can finish the build then you can refinance out to a main stream bank with good rates. One bank that pop in mind to help you through the short term is: MKM Capital - they are known as “the tricky loan specialist” - give them a google. and please let me know if you have any more questions as would be happy to help out or point you in the right direction Regards, Andrew Edwards AME Finance

Hi Anita - Sorry to hear about your troubles. We would need to wait until the kitchen is complete and then obtain a valuation to see what your property is worth and determine how much we are able to lend against that security. It would be great to meet with your son and daughter in law to gain a better understanding of their situation and hopefully find a solution for them. Yes, I have experience with self employed income. You can contact me on my HashChing Profile. Thanks.
